Jim H. Wilkes

President, Director and Co-Owner, Texland Petroleum, L.P.

Jim Wilkes is President and part owner of Texland Petroleum, L.P., an oil and gas exploration and production firm. He has been employed by Texland since 1984. Prior to joining Texland he worked as an engineer for Sun Exploration and Production Company for six years in Midland and Abilene, Texas.

He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering. He is currently serving on the Board of Catholic Charities Diocese of Fort Worth, Inc. Previously he has served on the Board of the Independent Petroleum Association of America as the “Central Texas” representative, the Board of Barbara Gordon Montessori School, the Executive Committee of the Fort Worth Wildcatters, the Board of the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, the Board of Fort Worth Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Board of Longhorn Council of Boy Scouts of America.

He has been married to Becky Wilkes for 43 years and has four children and ten grandchildren.

IPAA is the industry’s strongest presence in the nation’s capital and these are important times. The entire oil and gas industry remains under fire from anti-development groups; but with these challenges arise unique opportunities that IPAA is seizing for our members.
