U.S. Oil, Gas Producers: President Biden Ignores Energy Leadership

WASHINGTON – In response to President Joe Biden’s comments on climate and energy in his State of the Union address on Thursday night, Jeff Eshelman, President & CEO of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) issued the following statement:

“We are disappointed President Biden didn’t recognize the importance of America’s oil and natural gas global leadership. For a President who ran on inclusion, and with a goal of stitching the nation together again, nothing could be further from reality regarding the treatment of America’s oil and natural gas businesses. Instead, President Biden continues to divide us – making it clear his administration is playing a game of picking winners and losers. It has created failed government subsidies for wind, solar, and electric vehicles but, meanwhile, threatens to punish consumers who choose to use oil and gas to heat and cool our homes, cook our food, and for the vehicle we drive. Let’s unite America and recognize all forms of energy for the role they play in providing Americans affordability, reliability and environmental progress. A broad and realistic portfolio will make the United States and its allies strong and prosperous for decades to come.”
