IPAA Applauds Committee Approval of Remaining FERC Nominees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) Vice President of Crude Oil and Natural Gas Regulatory Affairs Susan Ginsberg issued the following statement on today’s approval of two remaining Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) nominees by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee:

“IPAA applauds the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and its prompt approval of the nominations of Kevin McIntyre and Rich Glick to fill the remaining two seats at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Fortunately, FERC, under the chairmanship of Neil Chatterjee, has begun tackling the workload that had built up while the agency was without a quorum. The full complement of commissioners will allow for more progress on the backlog. A full commission will also be better equipped to issue orders that can withstand the legal onslaught from groups that use every tactic, including opposition to pipelines, to keep America’s natural gas resources in the ground.

“IPAA thanks Committee Chair Lisa Murkowski for her commitment to committee action and urges the Senate to promptly approve these remaining nominations, so that FERC can fully return to its work considering important energy infrastructure projects across the country that will create American jobs, grow our economy, and strengthen our national energy security.”

IPAA pressed the Trump administration to restore FERC’s quorum in an Op-Ed in The Washington Examiner and sent a number of letters to The White House and to Senate leaders urging expedited action.
