Virtual Exploring Energy STEM Competition

Encourage your students to participate in our Virtual Exploring Energy STEM Competition

When: Monday, March 6 from 5 to 8 pm at no charge to students

Why Compete?

Students will…

• Be better prepared when applying for a job and college
• Be a more persuasive communicator
• Demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Enhance their communication skills and gain confidence

Prizes

1^st place team of 4: Each student receives $500.00

2^nd place team of 4: Each Student receives $300.00

3^rd place team of 4: Each student receives $200.00

About the Competition

• Students will register on their own and can choose teams of 3-4
• Students can be from the same school or different schools, but all must work together as a team to design the energy community of the future and participate in the final presentation
• The presentation of the energy community of the future design on March 6^th is virtual so each participant will need access to a computer and internet connection
• Students will demonstrate professional presentation, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Students will apply engineering skills and diplomacy as they design and present an energy community of the future
• Projects must be completed in advance; presentations are in real-time online on March 6^th in front of peers and professionals

How It Works

• Online student team registration is now open and will close on March 3^rd
• Students that have registered attend, present, and vote at the virtual competition on March 6, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm CT
• Each team will produce a 5-to-7-minute presentation and answer up to 3 questions about their energy of community of the future design
• A panel of judges and peers review the presentations and choose the top 3 teams
• Winners will be announced at the end of the competition
• 3 top teams receive cash prizes

Join our National Energy Academy!

High School students can join the National Energy Academy where high school students will meet other like-minded classmates from around the country and learn about the energy industry from industry professionals.

• Virtual competitions will be announced during the meetings which have substantial cash prizes
• Students will receive a professional certificate in May 2023 if they attend 5 of the 7 meetings. Alternate assignments can be completed if a student needs to miss a meeting.

Student registration is easy, simply have your students fill out this media release form and email it to Sarah Hewitt. Alternatively, they can fill it out online, if that is easier. Sarah will then send them an invitation to the Zoom meeting the week before the meeting.
