IPAA Commends DOE Decision on Natural Gas Exports

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Department of Energy’s authorization of the Freeport Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal on Quintana Island, Texas, IPAA President and CEO Barry Russell commented,

“IPAA supports the Department of Energy’s continued diligence in approving export applications to allow market forces to work in developing facilities and negotiating contracts.

“Natural gas exports have the potential to provide a market for America’s abundant natural gas supplies, which will allow the U.S. to take advantage of the economic and security gains thatfollow from a freer market of natural gas.

“Due to technologies pioneered by America’s independent oil and natural gas producers and service companies, the U.S. has been able to access its vast supply of natural gas. Exporting natural gas to countries that need it will encourage production, while strengthening the U.S. trade balance and creating thousands of jobs for Americans.”

IPAA, on behalf of America’s independent producers, will continue its efforts to promote regulatory and tax policies that encourage production of natural gas for all markets.
