University of Houston Tech Challenge

In August, the University of Houston Energy hosted “A Day of Science and Fun” summer camp specifically for IPAA/PESA Petroleum Academy high school students. Students were invited to spend the day on the University of Houston campus and participated in engaging, hands-on STEM activities, including spending time in the drone and robotics labs at the UH Cullen College of Engineering and competing to design a multi-frack lateral well.

The students also heard from:

Dr. Aaron Becker, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Drone Robotics Lab

Laura Galloway, Assistance Professor, Admissions, Program Manager – Prospective and New Student Programs

Braden Bowie, Reservoir Engineer, Subsurface Engineering, Apache Corp

U of H PhD Students under Dr. Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal

Laboratory for Non-Invasive Brain-Machine Interfaces

The petroleum academy students greatly benefited from this experience and the IPAA/PESA Energy Education Center is very appreciative of the investment University of Houston Energy made in creating this experience.
