Southwest High School Attends Texas A&M Spark Conference

IPAA/PESA Junior and Senior Petroleum Academy students from Southwest High School traveled to Texas A&M for the annual Spark Conference, an engineering design competition.  The students were placed on teams with students from other schools based on their interests.  Each group was given an impromptu design to complete. Our Petroleum Academy students were also visited by IPAA/PESA Petroleum Academy Alumni River Dwight and Shamer Zahir who are Sophomores at Texas A&M studying Engineering.

The winners from Southwest High School are:

1st place for designing an Amusement Park: Alexis Orta, Rosana Puga and Juan Gress

3rd place for designing an Amusement Park: Prabin Phuyel and Lucio Chairez

3rd place in the Egg and Hot Wheel Challenge: Suraj Sharma and Jesse Jaramillo

1st place for Glider: Jennifer Lopez and George Hernandez

2nd place for the Mouse Trap Car Challenge: Noah Castro
