Issues » InternationalIPAA International PrimerThe IPAA International Primer reviews various aspects of international operations by outlining a host of issues that independents should consider when making the decision about going international and touches upon an array of additional topics - from political risk to fiscal and tax terms. "Assessing Political Risk" by Dr. Alfred J. Boulos, expands upon the section on Political Risk in the International Primer, Chapter III, paragraph 2 which stated that in the "...context of an international oil and gas venture, political risk can be defined as any factor outside the technical aspects of exploration, development and production operation...other than Acts of God, which may reduce or destroy the value of the oil and gas assets." This brochure reviews the issue of political risk in the 'non-commercial' landscape of international oil and gas ventures, addressing international business practices and risk mitigation strategies that might help companies cope with wide-ranging political situations.
