Federal rulemaking is based on the comments it receives on its proposed regulations. IPAA regularly submits comments on significant regulations to assure that its position is included in the analysis of the proposed regulation. This section provides recent comments on rules and regulations.

Motion for Stay of F.E.R.C. Final Transportation Rule, Order 637

Motion for stay of the provisions of FERC's final gas transportation rule which eliminated the price caps for short-term releases of pipeline capacity.

Federal Oil Royalty Comments

On January 31, 2000, IPAA, along with other industry groups, submitted extensive comments to MMS and OMB.  As well, IPAA submitted duty to market comments.  Tom White, Vision Resources, submitted his oral presentation in DC for the record.

FERC Approves Natural Gas Transportation Rule

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved a rule (Order No. 637) that seeks to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of natural gas pipelines, and also aims to protect captive customers from the exercise of market power.

Section 232 Comments

Comments on the National Security Investigation of Imports of Crude Oil and Petroleum Products [Docket No: 990427107-9107-01] on behalf of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the National Stripper Well Association. Comments were submitted June 3, 1999, to the Department of Commerce.

IPAA Reacts to Commerce Ruling on Oil Dumping Case

Statement by IPAA Chairman George Yates on the decision by the U.S. Department of Commerce to deny standing to Save Domestic Oil in its oil dumping petition against Venezuela, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Industry comments to MMS on the scope of the E. I. S. for the proposed OCS Lease Sale 181

Industry's comments filed with MMS on the scope of the Environmental Impact statement the agency will prepare for OCS Lease Sale 181. These comments were submitted jointly by seven trade associations-a further indication to MMS that industry remains strongly committed to Sale 181.
