IPAA Welcomes President Trump’s Executive Order Tackling Costly, Duplicative Energy Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) President and CEO Barry Russell today joined President Donald Trump for the signing ceremony of the Energy Independence executive order, which seeks to rollback duplicative regulations that stand to impede American energy production and job growth. Russell issued the following statement after the ceremony:

“Today’s action by President Trump calls on his administration to review existing federal agency policies that have held back American energy production, rescinding rules that have limited our economic growth with little benefit. This common sense action stands to provide clear benefits for the economy, consumers, and the environment.

“Thanks to the industry’s innovative spirit and the increased use of clean-burning natural gas, U.S. carbon emissions are at their lowest level since 1992. This achievement would not have been possible without advancements in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling; technologies pioneered by America’s independent oil and natural gas producers. Rather than imposing duplicative regulations from Washington, this type of industry-driven, market-based approach is the solution to ensure robust, American energy development continues while we protect the air, water, and land we all cherish.

“IPAA welcomes President Trump’s bold decision to tackle the growing regulatory state and identify rules that harm the economy and threaten American jobs.”
