IPAA Applauds President Trump’s America-First Offshore Energy Strategy Executive Order

HOUSTON – Today, President Trump signed the America-First Offshore Energy Strategy Executive Order, calling for a review of current offshore oil and natural gas locations and regulations. Following the announcement, Dan Naatz, IPAA Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Political Affairs, made the following statement:

“IPAA applauds the signing of this executive order as a step in the right direction for America’s energy economy and national energy security. With a proven record of offshore production that can be done safely and responsibly, IPAA has long-advocated for increased access to our offshore resources to support economic development, American jobs, and expanded energy production here at home.

“In 2009, investment offshore by America’s independent producers accounted for $38 billion in economic benefits, more than 200,000 jobs, and $10 billion in federal and state revenue and royalty payments. These are the real, tangible benefits of safely developing our vast offshore resources. Today’s action by the new administration puts us one step closer to achieving these great benefits once again.”
