Description:
We are excited to kick off the school year with our Guest Speaker program at Milby High School - Academy of Petroleum Exploration & Production Technology. This AP math/science magnet school provides 10th-12th grade academy students with Advanced Placement classes in pre-engineering and geosciences concepts and cutting edge technology software, as well as a 3 year exploration into the fundamentals of the petroleum industry. Halliburton provided this academy with $27,000,000 engineering and geosciences software grant. This school has many programs going on throughout the day and we want to make sure to get you to the correct location so please identify yourself as a Petroleum Academy volunteer when you check in.
Overview: Our goal within each academy is to provide students with the ability to make more informed career choices in the areas of math, science and the emerging technology concepts available in our industry. During the Fall semester, industry professionals volunteer to share the vast career opportunities that are available within the petroleum industry. With the help of our volunteers, we are able to make math and science more meaningful and relevant within the classrooms and provide a firm foundation for the next generation of America's oil and gas professionals.
