As Congress goes through its final week of a two week Easter/Spring recess, activity will once again begin to ramp up in anticipation of their return to DC. No exceptions for the IPAA Government Relations team, as we continue to reach out across Capitol Hill to all elected officials and their staff, we will be busy maintaining our relationships with offices and preparing them for upcoming proceedings on energy legislation.
At the forefront will be the Waxman/Markey energy legislation that was unveiled just days before Congress adjourned for recess. Members and staff will be sifting through the particulars of the released “discussion draft” and details will begin to be fleshed out. Similarly, preparation for hearings and markups will also be underway this week.
Otherwise, relatively quiet in DC this week, as everyone catches a final breath before the House and Senate reconvene. Check in next Monday for a look ahead at the first week back.
