IPAA in the News

IPAA’s Dan Naatz was quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle today and Fred Lawrence was quoted in the Fort Worth Business Press

In the Chronicle‘s story on offshore opportunity off the California coast, Dan comments on the appointment of Ken Salazar to Secretary of the Interior:

“We’ve been encouraged that the president-elect has chosen Sen. Salazar,” said Dan Naatz, vice president for federal resources with the Independent Petroleum Association of America, a group with 5,000 members that drill 90 percent of the oil and natural gas wells in the United States. “He’s from the West, and he understands federal land policy, which is really key.”

Meanwhile, Fred appears in a Forth Worth Business Press article on shale production and potential.  Fred speaks about the expanding potential of natural gas, particularly in natural gas vehicles:

The incoming presidential administration is serious about examining the expanding possibilities of natural gas as a transportation fuel, said Fred Lawrence, vice president for economics and international affairs for the Washington D.C.-based Independent Petroleum Association of America. The IPAA’s president and CEO, Barry Russell, has met with President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team.

“I think one area of potential development is natural gas vehicles … a lot of potential,” said Lawrence, adding that the conversion of even just mail carriers and school buses to natural gas is a big start. “We see natural gas vehicles as a whole potential new demand component.”
